Ålandsbanken
Ålandsbanken’s Baltic Sea Project has been a funder of BSAG’s Living Baltic Sea project from its earliest stages right up to the present day. Ålandsbanken’s Baltic Sea Project enables BSAG’s marine conservation work.
Collaboration in a seashell
In 2019, BSAG began collaborating with Ålandsbanken’s Baltic Sea Project. The partnership started with the Living Baltic Sea project, which aims to promote the establishment of private marine protected areas and raise awareness of the Baltic Sea’s vulnerability. Throughout the collaboration, the message of Baltic Sea protection has been carried forward at events and in gatherings aimed at decision-makers. Ålandsbanken’s support has also enabled BSAG to carry out other projects promoting the protection of the Baltic Sea, such as the LIFE IP-Biodiversea and SaaristoRider projects. A significant achievement of the collaboration was the establishment of the Archipelago Sea’s largest private marine protected area in Gullkrona in 2022.

About the partner company
Ålandsbanken is a bank founded in 1919 in Åland, with its head office located in Mariehamn. Founded by local entrepreneurs, the bank listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange in 1942 and has grown steadily over the decades. In addition to Åland, Ålandsbanken operates in mainland Finland and Sweden, offering its customers a wide range of banking services. The bank began offering Private Banking services in Finland in 1982, the first bank in Finland to do so. Today, Ålandsbanken has branches in several locations in Finland and Sweden. The group employs around 1,000 people, and its operations are based on long-term customer relationships and strong local expertise.
Ålandsbanken’s Baltic Sea Project has long supported projects that improve the state of the Baltic Sea, and our collaboration with BSAG is a unique opportunity to make an impact on the biodiversity of the Baltic Sea’s marine environment. The Living Baltic Sea project is an excellent example of the power of collaboration.
