DAVA Foods Finland Oy
DAVA Foods Finland Oy is Finland’s leading egg company, and its Kultamuna eggs are produced on Finnish family farms. The company has worked with the Baltic Sea Action Group (BSAG) since 2021 and has made a new Baltic Sea Commitment for 2026–2030, focusing on reducing the environmental impacts of feed grain cultivation.
Collaboration in a seashell
DAVA Foods Finland Oy and BSAG began working together in 2021, when the company became the first egg company to make a Baltic Sea Commitment and joined the Carbon Action network. During the first commitment period, the company focused on training its contract producers in regenerative feed cultivation, on reducing emissions from farm energy use, and on developing the circular economy of manure. The new Baltic Sea Commitment for 2026–2030 centres on feed grain cultivation, since most of the environmental impacts of eggs arise from growing feed grain and from farm operations. The company supports its producer farms in the transition to regenerative farming together with BSAG and other actors, and promotes carbon footprint measurement on all of its producer farms. The cooperation also includes an annual donation to BSAG’s work for the Baltic Sea.

Baltic Sea Commitment
The Baltic Sea Commitment for 2026–2030 focuses on reducing the environmental impacts of feed grain cultivation. Its main aims are to reduce the nutrient load on water bodies, to lower the carbon footprint of egg production and to support biodiversity on farms. Feed grain is often grown on the same family farms where the eggs are produced, so the measures in the commitment target in particular the growing share of regenerative farming and support for farms during the transition.

Commitment objectives

DAVA Foods Finland Oy commits to gradually increasing the share of regeneratively grown feed grain in egg production

DAVA Foods Finland Oy commits to promoting the adoption of a carbon footprint measurement tool on all of its producer farms
By the end of 2027 the company will determine the carbon footprint of farm operations and feed production. At the same time, it will set a target level for the carbon footprint for 2030. The target will be added to DAVA Foods Finland Oy’s Baltic Sea Commitment.
Also, by the end of 2027, the company will define the measures needed to reach the target in the following areas: farm operations, feed grain cultivation, land use and protein sources.

DAVA Foods Finland Oy commits to actively seeking solutions for reducing the environmental load of the amino acid sources in feed.
The measures and their results will be reported annually in the company’s sustainability report.
About the partner company
DAVA Foods Finland Oy is an egg company owned in equal shares by the Finnish cooperative Munakunta and DAVA Foods Holding A/S, an egg sector group operating in the Baltic Sea region. Kultamuna eggs are produced on Finnish family farms and are inspected and packed at DAVA’s packing station in Kaarina. The eggs are also processed into other egg products for professional kitchens and industry. The company also sells DAVA plant proteins and spray oils as well as poultry production equipment.
Carbon Action is an excellent initiative, because it gives companies and farms real tools for making agricultural production more sustainable. Without this kind of cooperation, such broad-based development would not be possible.
